Only a few buildings in the world exist to meet the International Living Future Institute’s Living Building Challenge and one of them is right in our backyard! Take a tour of the “Greenest Single Family Residence in the World” this month with Aaron Ackerman, LEED AP ID+C, of Bowers + Kubota. See the residence that was designed and built to be 100% self-sustaining, allowing its occupants to live off the land. Aaron utilized reclaimed regional construction waste and the latest and greatest green technologies available on the market compliant with the Living Building Challenge’s stringent guidelines to build this home. He wears the hats of all stakeholders involved – owner, fundraiser, borrower, designer, builder, advocate, educator, and O&M operator of this project – and on March 22nd, he will be our tour guide! Aaron also presented on this project at the December 2014 SMPS Lunch Program, "Greening Facilities." |
